Amazon.com Product Description A featherboard is undoubtedly the most underrated router-table accessory of all time. When properly installed, its flexible fingers keep the workpiece pressed tightly against the router tabletop or router fence throughout the routing operation. The result is a dramatic increase in the accuracy, quality and safety of the cuts. Now many woodworkers make their own featherboards from scrap lumber, but here's a better, safer option: the Bench Dog 40-011 Feather-Loc Double Featherboard. This popular router-table accessory consists of not one, but two industrial-quality featherboards. The featherboards are made from a high-tech polymer and each one has 13 angled fingers that apply steady pressure that consistently produces cleaner cuts with less chance of kickback, chattering or lifting. The featherboards slide into miter-gauge slots in the router table or fence, and are locked in place by tightening a pair of knobs. Note that Feather-Loc Featherboards can also be used on a table saw, shaper, bandsaw or any other woodworking machine with a miter gauge slot. -- Joseph Truini

Pretty good stuff...1 small complaint August 3, 2010 Steve Cvetetic (South Daytona, FL United States) I have owned several of these for about 5 years and use them daily. They are easy to set and use and rugged. Only 1 thing prevents me from giving them 5 stars. They don't give a tight enough fit in the miter slot. They hold well enough to prevent sliding in the slot but they don't hold well enough to prevent lifting them out of the slot. When I set them firmly against the piece I'm cutting, I can't lift the wood without lifting the feather board out of the slot. They should be made with T-slot bars. But this is a minor inconvenience that does not diminish the value of the item. I recommend them.
Rugged, excellent quality July 16, 2010 Timothy N. dePlume (Chicago, Illinois) I just wrote a review of the Milescraft double-decker FB (not favorable) and there I touted the Bench Dog FB as the standard for quality. Then I checked out the reviews for this FB and I see many people are unhappy with it, and I'm perplexed. I have two pairs of these, one for my router table (with standard bolt-heads that fit in the t-slots, and one for my table saw (with miter-slot bars). I've used them for about 10 years and I've always been happy with them. They're tough but flexible, stay put with a simple turn of the knob and they're very easy to adjust, install and remove.
I'm not entirely sure but it appears some of the reviewers may be attempting to use the bolt-head variety in miter slots or the miter-slot kind in T-slots. They sell them both ways so make sure you're buying what you need. The miter-slot bars are standard 3/8" x 3/4" so they're not going to fit in a worksite construction saw like the Makita 2703.
No, I'm not a BD shill, just a regular old woodworker. This is about the only BD product I use. Another nice thing about these is they're the color of traffic cones, which makes them really easy to find in a crowded workshop! Come to think of it, maybe THAT'S why I grab them first...
Poor design June 2, 2010 Bruce Bousfield Similar complaints to other reviewers. Fingers are too stiff. Non-parallel slots are awkward to adjust. Miter slot bar only expands and tightens at one end and thus can pivot out of the slot. I bought some Kreg featherboards that are much much better.
Bench Dog Featherboard January 15, 2010 pintodeluxe Take these back to the drawing board Bench Dog!
Let me start by saying I love my Bench Dog router plate, but these featherboards are way too stiff. You usually can't even force the material past the featherboards. Back off slightly, and they offer no contact at all. I have used cheap plastic featherboards before, and really liked them. These are way too stiff. Every so often I take them to the band saw and cut off another plastic finger - still too stiff.
Also the non-parallel slots are not well designed. This is minor compared with the stiff fingers.
Two things I do like about these...
1. They are plenty long, so they reach the router fence in any position.
2. They indicate feed direction, so when your brother in law borrows your router table he won't hurt himself.
Try another brand, these aren't any good.
These get a bad rapp December 26, 2009 cyber kid Ive read more than a few rather unfavorable reviews for this set...
Ive had these a while, haven't used these all that much, but have not found any real problems...
Its obvious to me you do not get the miter attachment, and I dont have any trouble adjusting with the angled slots... There is a perfectly good reason for that...
Who else sells 2 decent feather boards for under $10 each (on sale)....
